Welsh Rescue Charity Under Investigation for Dog Treatment Practices

An investigation has been initiated into Many Tears Animal Rescue Centre located in Cefneithin, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The inquiry follows several complaints about the treatment of dogs at the facility. Animal Licensing Wales (ALW), aided by Dyfed-Powys Police officers, visited the center on March 10, 2026, to address these concerns.
Concerns and Allegations Surrounding Many Tears Rescue Centre
The investigation into Many Tears emerged after pet owners and a former employee raised multiple allegations. Key concerns include:
- Puppies allegedly transported from Irish puppy farms without proper procedures.
- Vaccination records that are reportedly not stored correctly.
- Claims of puppies traveling without appropriate separation.
- Questions regarding undisclosed health conditions when dogs are rehomed.
- Concerns about the accuracy of medical records and pre-adoption checks.
Response from Many Tears Animal Rescue Centre
A representative from Many Tears stated that the center provides “exceptional” care for its animals and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. They emphasize that no animals were taken from the facility during the ALW visit, and conditions on-site were not criticized by inspectors. They highlighted that the center offers enrichment activities to ensure the well-being of all animals.
The spokesperson addressed the transport issues, affirming that Many Tears works with reputable breeding establishments to rescue dogs and puppies. They indicated that their vehicles are fully licensed for animal transport, ensuring that puppies are kept separately from adult dogs during transit.
Animal Licensing Wales’ Role
Animal Licensing Wales was formed by the Welsh Government in 2020 to oversee animal welfare regulations, combat illegal breeding, and hold offenders accountable. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, ALW has refrained from providing further comments at this time.
The outcome of the investigation is pending as both the authorities and Many Tears aim to clarify the allegations concerning the treatment of dogs at the rescue center.
