Magnolia Man Arrested for Pointing Gun at School Bus

The Delaware State Police apprehended a 62-year-old resident, Charles McCombs, in Magnolia for aggravated menacing. This arrest occurred after an incident involving a firearm pointed at students on a school bus.

Incident Details

On June 9, 2026, around 8:00 p.m., the School Resource Officer at Polytech High School received information regarding a concerning video. The video depicted a man brandishing a gun at students on their school bus.

Chain of Events

  • A student on the bus sprayed water at McCombs, who was riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle.
  • After being splashed, McCombs yelled at the students.
  • He then drew a firearm and pointed it at the bus as it left the scene.

Investigation and Arrest

Following the incident, police conducted an investigation. Detectives identified McCombs as the suspect through various means. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued.

On June 11, 2026, authorities arrested McCombs without any struggle. He was taken to Troop 3 to face charges.

Charges Filed

McCombs faces several serious charges:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (6 counts, Felony)

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2. Following this, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution with a secured bond set at $48,000.

As with all individuals charged, McCombs is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
