Lamar Odom Achieves Nearly 60 Days of Complete Sobriety
Lamar Odom, the former NBA champion, has marked a significant milestone by achieving nearly 60 days of complete sobriety. In a recent virtual interview, Odom reflected on his journey of recovery after facing severe health challenges and addiction.
Lamar Odom’s Journey to Sobriety
On March 24, Odom shared his inspiring story, recounting the critical moments after waking from a coma ten years ago. Doctors had informed him that he may never walk or talk again. “Having this conversation is a win,” he expressed during the interview.
Odom’s story is featured in the upcoming Netflix documentary “Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom,” set to premiere on March 31. This documentary highlights the various hardships Odom has faced, such as his divorce from Khloé Kardashian and his life-altering collapse at a Las Vegas brothel in October 2015.
Health Challenges
- Odom was hospitalized for almost three months at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
- He suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks while in a coma.
- Doctors advised his family to prepare for the worst during his lengthy hospitalization.
Reflecting on his miraculous recovery, Odom stated, “All of my doctors say I’m like a walking miracle.” He expresses gratitude for life and the opportunities to share his experiences with others.
Commitment to Sobriety
As of now, Odom is nearly 60 days sober, a significant achievement considering his past struggles. He highlighted the cessation of both marijuana and alcohol since January 28, noting that quitting marijuana was particularly challenging. “No pot, no alcohol,” he emphasized.
Earlier this year, Odom completed a 30-day program at iRely Recovery in Los Angeles. There, he gained insights into his addiction and aims to inspire others facing similar challenges. “If I could help the average person, that’s one of the reasons why the Lord spared me,” he remarked.
Facing the Past
The documentary also addresses Odom’s tragic losses, including the death of his infant son and the passing of his mother due to colon cancer. He acknowledges these experiences as pivotal factors leading to his struggles with addiction. However, he refuses to use them as excuses for his past behavior. “At this point in my life, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired,” he stated.
Legal Troubles
Odom is currently dealing with legal issues stemming from a DUI arrest in January 2026 in Las Vegas. He faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence and speeding. Despite these challenges, he maintains a focus on his recovery and personal growth.
Odom aims to make lasting changes in his life while spreading hope to others struggling with addiction. He is determined to live his best life and bring happiness to those around him.
