The Lanaudière community is invited to take part in the Kidney Foundation March, scheduled for June 7 at Parc de l’Île-Lebel in Repentigny. This 5 km event will start at 10:30 AM and aims to raise funds for the Kidney Foundation.
Fundraising Goals and Activities
The funds collected during the march will support various initiatives, including:
- Research funding
- Scholarships for students returning to education
- A summer camp for dialysis patients
Additionally, the local musical duo, La Belle Visite, will perform to enhance the festive atmosphere. Attendees can also benefit from various health-related activities, including skin art by makeup artists and nutrition workshops led by professionals.
Importance of the Event
Sonia Dauphin, co-chair of the Kidney March in the Lanaudière region, emphasized the significance of this event. Having received multiple kidney and liver transplants herself, Dauphin recognizes the urgency of providing support to others facing similar challenges.
She noted that, although she did not directly rely on the Foundation during her own health battles, many individuals require assistance and encouragement. This realization has fueled her passion for supporting the cause.
Event Expectations
The event has set an ambitious fundraising goal of $12,000. The organizers anticipate participation from around 50 people, demonstrating strong community involvement in supporting kidney health.
