Scots Select Trio of Olympians for Glasgow 2026 Swimming Competition

Team Scotland has announced a strong swimming lineup for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. This year’s competition will include several athletes with Olympic experience, showcasing the depth of talent within the squad.

The team features a mix of seasoned competitors and newcomers. Notable Olympians joining the squad are:

Recent Achievements

Katie Shanahan made headlines by winning two bronze medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Evan Jones, another standout swimmer, also secured two bronze medals in Birmingham. Additionally, Archie Goodburn, despite being diagnosed with inoperable brain tumors in 2024, secured gold in the 100m breaststroke at last year’s Scottish Swimming Championships.

Event Details

The swimming and para-swimming events will be held at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre from July 24 to July 29, 2026. This venue is set to host a range of competitive swimming events, drawing athletes and audiences from around the world.

Elinor Middlemiss, Team Scotland’s chef de mission, expressed excitement over the announced team. She stated, “I am absolutely delighted for the swimmers named in the Team Scotland squad for Glasgow this summer.” Middlemiss emphasized the blend of experienced athletes and fresh talent, highlighting the team’s overall strength.

She also noted the significance of several Youth Games athletes being included in the squad, remarking, “It’s also wonderful to see so many of our Youth Games team making the standard and having the opportunity to use that experience at a home Games.” Middlemiss wished all selected athletes the best in their preparations and anticipated their performances in July.
