The 2026 season at Peterborough Speedway promises an exciting kick-off under the banner of New Country KX 105. The season opener is set for Saturday, May 16, with free admission to the spectator grandstands. Fans can anticipate thrilling races featuring various classes, including Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Super Stock, and Late Model classes, along with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series.
Make-Up Date for Opening Night
In a historic first for the venue, Peterborough Speedway officials have introduced a make-up date for the opening night. Should inclement weather hinder the Saturday schedule, races will be rescheduled to Sunday, May 17. J.P. Josiasse, the owner and promoter, emphasized the importance of accommodating fans. “This option allows us to plan for the unexpected while ensuring a great experience for everyone,” he stated.
Upcoming Events and Highlights
- Junior Late Model Teams: Their inaugural appearance for the 2026 season will be on May 23.
- First Major Event: The APC United Late Model Series double header on June 13. It will feature a 175-lap race, a first in track history.
- Additional Classes: Local Mini Stocks and other series will also participate in the June 13 event.
Notable Champions and Recent Winners
The 2024 APC Late Model Series champion, Dan McHattie, will compete again this season alongside Jake Sheridan, who won the Late Model event in 2025. Carson Nagy secured the Super Stock victory last year, while Josh Stade and Lane Zardo were crowned tour champions. Stade kicked off this year’s competition with a win at Delaware on May 9.
Special Events Schedule
The season will also include the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models returning for a 50-lap headliner on July 11. This event will be part of the Mid-Season Bash, which starts at 6:00 PM. JR Fitzpatrick recently claimed victory in the Outlaw Super Late Model category at Peterborough.
