Price Increase and Key Features

Due to recent technological upgrades and tariffs on U.S.-manufactured vehicles, the Polestar 3’s base price has surged by $9,000. The new starting price is now $105,000, excluding any manufacturer rebates. Additionally, buyers should budget for $2,800 in freight and delivery fees.

Technical Enhancements

  • Transition from 400-volt to 800-volt electrical architecture
  • New battery software called Breathe Charge
  • Peak DC charging rate up to 350 kW
  • 10-80% charging achieved in just 22 minutes

These upgrades enhance charging efficiency by 35%, a notable improvement for electric vehicle users.

Performance Updates

The 2026 model features a more powerful rear electric motor across all trims. The Dual Motor variant now offers a total output of 400 kW (536 hp), while the Performance trim achieves 500 kW (671 hp). The Performance model comes with an additional cost of $15,000, bringing the total price to $120,000 before fees.

Acceleration has also improved:

  • 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds for Performance trim

Furthermore, the front motor now has an automatic disconnect feature, enhancing efficiency and range when it isn’t needed.

Driving Experience and Range

With an updated suspension and retuned steering software, driving the Polestar 3 promises a more enjoyable experience. The official range is rated at 502 km, though using the Performance Pack reduces it to 452 km.

Design Updates

Visually, the Polestar 3 introduces two new exterior colors: Storm and Krypton, along with contrasting Polestar logos. Inside, buyers can opt for Nappa leather in a new Dune finish for an upscale feel.

Technological Advances

A significant update includes the upgrade to the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processor, which boosts processing capability from 30 to 254 trillion operations per second. This enhancement is aimed at improving the management of active safety systems, battery performance, and sensor data accuracy.

Hugues Bissonnette, the head of Polestar Canada, remarked, “The response to Polestar 3 in Canada has exceeded our expectations. With the latest updates, the Polestar 3 is better suited for Canadian drivers and the diverse conditions they face year-round.”
