Starting May 9, 2023, Freiberg will introduce extended shopping hours on Saturdays. This initiative is supported by the city and the local business association. A minimum of 14 retailers will participate, opening their stores longer on the second Saturday of each month.

Shopping Events Through the Year
The extended hours will be in effect on specific Saturdays throughout the year:
- June 13
- July 11
- August 8
- September 12
- October 10
- November 14
Additionally, during the Advent season, stores will remain open until 18:00 on all Saturdays.
City Manager’s Vision
Nicole Schimpke, the City Manager of Freiberg, expressed hope that more retailers will join the initiative. She believes that the extended shopping hours can establish a monthly shopping tradition for local consumers. The city is actively promoting this initiative beyond Freiberg to attract more visitors.
