Waldo Cortes-Acosta Confronts Josh Hokit, Calls Him ‘Idiot’

Waldo Cortes-Acosta is ready to step into the octagon at UFC 328. The event is scheduled for Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Cortes-Acosta will face off against former Bellator champion Alexander Volkov.
Cortes-Acosta Confronts Josh Hokit
This week, during a media day interview, Cortes-Acosta opened up about an earlier confrontation with heavyweight Josh Hokit. Their feud ignited after Hokit made disparaging comments during UFC 324 in January.
After his TKO victory over Denzel Freeman, Hokit challenged Cortes-Acosta live, labeling him a “deadbeat father.” Disturbed by Hokit’s remarks about his family, Cortes-Acosta decided to confront him at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
The Confrontation
Cortes-Acosta recalled the encounter, stating that he firmly conveyed his displeasure. “I told him, ‘You’re not worth anything,’” he shared with reporters. “You better prepare yourself well because one day you and I are going to fight.”
Following this intense exchange, Hokit reportedly apologized, claiming his comments were intended for publicity and to promote a future fight. Cortes-Acosta, however, showed little interest in reconciliation, responding sharply, “You’re a f*cking idiot. You’re a p*ssy.”
UFC 328: Aiming for the Title Shot
As Cortes-Acosta prepares for his bout against Volkov, his mind remains focused on the future. With a professional record of 17 victories and 2 losses, including 10 wins in the UFC, he aims to leverage this match as a stepping stone towards securing a title shot against current UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
“A win over Volkov is crucial,” Cortes-Acosta explained. He highlighted the timing of other heavyweight fights, noting that wins against significant opponents could lead him to a confrontation with Aspinall at a later date.
