Youth Reportedly Spotted at School with Firearm-Like Object

A police operation took place at Gérard-Filion school in Longueuil on Thursday afternoon. Reports indicated that students were seen with an object resembling a firearm inside the school premises. The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) received a call from a concerned citizen regarding this matter.

Police Response to Firearm-Like Object Report

In response to the report, a significant police presence was deployed. This included specialized intervention teams working alongside the school administration and the Marie-Victorin School Service Centre. Extensive searches were conducted; however, no firearms were located on site.

The Gérard-Filion school serves approximately 1,000 students. Due to the incident, the school announced that evening classes scheduled for April 30, 2026, would be canceled, and the school would remain closed for the evening.

The Marie-Victorin School Service Centre communicated through its Facebook page, mentioning that students could retrieve their personal belongings the following day. The ongoing police investigation aims to clarify the circumstances that led to the initial citizen report.
