Canada’s Wonderland Reopens, Toronto Marathon Highlights Weekend Events

This weekend in Toronto promises excitement for both runners and thrill-seekers as two major events unfold: the Toronto Marathon and the reopening of Canada’s Wonderland.
Toronto Marathon Details
The annual Toronto Marathon will take place on Sunday, featuring participants from 50 countries. Events include a full marathon, half-marathon, 10K, and 5K run and walk.
- Marathon Start Time: 7:30 a.m. at Yonge Street and North York Boulevard
- Half-Marathon Start Time: 8:30 a.m. at the same location
- 10K Start Time: 7:30 a.m. at Lake Shore Boulevard and Strachan Avenue
- 5K Start Time: 8:00 a.m. at the same spot
This marathon supports the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation through its fundraising efforts.
Canada’s Wonderland Reopening
Canada’s Wonderland will also open for the season this Sunday, with a special preview on Friday night for season passholders. Notable features of this year include the introduction of a revamped coaster called the DareDeviler.
This summer attraction is inspired by early aviation and the Grand World Expo.

This season, a new chaperone policy will require all guests aged 15 and younger to be accompanied by an adult aged 21 or older after 4 p.m.
Travel and Road Adjustments
Public Transit Changes
- Subway Service: Line 1 will be closed from Finch to Sheppard-Yonge on Saturday, with shuttle buses replacing service for track maintenance.
- GO Train Adjustments: Barrie GO Line services will see buses replacing trains at most stations on May 2 and 3.
Road Closures Due to Events
Due to the Toronto Marathon, numerous road closures will be enforced on Sunday:
- Yonge Street from Park Home Avenue to Elmhurst Avenue: 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Yonge Street from Finch Avenue East to Hollywood Avenue: 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- North York Boulevard from Beecroft Road to Yonge Street: 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Additional closures affecting numerous streets around the marathon route will be in effect from early morning until noon.
