Celebrity Chef Valentino Luchin Charged with Robbing San Francisco Banks

A well-known chef from the Bay Area is under federal scrutiny for allegedly robbing multiple banks in San Francisco last year. Valentino Luchin, aged 62, is charged with robbing three financial institutions in September 2025.
Robbery Details
Prosecutors assert that Luchin used written notes to demand cash during these incidents. He successfully obtained approximately $2,800 in two out of three robbery attempts. The last attempt reportedly did not yield any cash.
Legal Proceedings
Luchin was arrested in September 2025 and has since pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him in San Francisco. This is not his first encounter with the law regarding bank robberies.
- Previous Conviction: Luchin was convicted in 2018 for a bank robbery in Orinda, where he stole over $15,000.
- Motivation: After his restaurant, Ottavio, closed in 2016, he cited financial desperation as a factor behind his criminal activities.
The former executive chef of the Italian restaurant Rose Pistola has seen his reputation tarnished by repeated run-ins with law enforcement. This recent string of alleged robberies has added to his legal woes, bringing more attention to his controversial past.
As the case unfolds, it will be closely monitored by both the public and the media, given Luchin’s celebrity status in the culinary world.
