Cheese Recall in 20 States Escalates Over Listeria Risks

A serious cheese recall has expanded to affect 20 states, marking a significant health concern due to Listeria risks. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) elevated this recall to its highest risk classification—Class I—on January 6, indicating a strong likelihood that exposure to these products could result in serious health consequences or even death.

Listeria Monocytogenes Concerns

The recall stems from the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous bacteria that poses severe risks to health. According to the FDA, while healthy individuals may experience temporary symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, and abdominal pain, Listeria can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth in pregnant women.

Initial Recall Announcement

The initial announcement for this cheese recall was made on November 21, 2025. It encompassed several products manufactured by the Ambriola Company, which produces cheese brands including Ambriola, Locatelli, Member’s Mark, Pinna, and Boar’s Head.
