US Seizes Tanker: Satellite and Ship-Tracking Insights Revealed

Ukraine has released footage revealing a successful strike by a naval drone on a Russian tanker in the Black Sea. This incident, involving part of Russia’s shadow fleet, highlights ongoing tensions as Ukraine seeks to undermine oil deliveries that evade international sanctions.
Details of the Ukrainian Naval Drone Strike
The video, published by Reuters, showcases a series of clips taken by at least two sea drones. The footage begins with a drone approaching the tanker, identified as the “Dashan.” Following this, a second drone captures a large explosion near the rear of the vessel.
- The Dashan was sailing under the flag of the Comoros Islands.
- It was reportedly heading towards the port of Novorossiysk in southern Russia.
Confirmation of the Target
Analysts confirmed the identity of the tanker based on identifiable features visible in the drone footage. This verification was aided by matching images to those found on the Vessel Finder website.
Context and Previous Incidents
This latest incident marks the third time a tanker from the shadow fleet has been targeted in recent weeks. Previous strikes in the Black Sea included two other vessels, known as Kairos and Viras, which were also involved in transporting oil to circumvent a price cap on Russian exports.
- Dashan: Targeted in a recent drone strike.
- Kairos: Struck last month, part of the shadow fleet.
- Viras: Another vessel previously targeted.
As these attacks continue, the situation remains tense in the region as Ukraine actively seeks to disrupt Russia’s oil transport operations.
