Indigenous Pop-Up Reopens at Toronto Eaton Centre for Holiday Season

The aaniin Indigenous pop-up store is making a return to the Toronto Eaton Centre for its second season, coinciding with the holiday shopping period. This fully Indigenous-owned department store celebrates Indigenous culture, language, and entrepreneurship.

Event Details

The pop-up will run from November 1, 2025, until January 2026. It will be located on the second floor of the Eaton Centre. The store aims to provide a wide variety of Indigenous-owned brands to the public.

The opening celebration on November 1 will include giveaways, refreshments, traditional dancing, interactive activities, and photo booths. Visitors will also have the chance to meet the shop’s founders in person.

Bimaadiziwin Marketplace

This year’s event introduces the Bimaadiziwin Marketplace, an online platform designed to help Indigenous entrepreneurs. The marketplace stems from aaniin’s Business Growth Cohort, allowing businesses to extend their reach beyond the Toronto mall.

Supporting Indigenous Business

According to Chelsee Pettit, the founder of aaniin and a member of the Aamjiwnaag First Nation, “the strongest path to reconciliation is through the Indigenous economy.” aaniin reflects a commitment to economic sovereignty and empowerment among Indigenous peoples.

Last year’s pop-up was extremely successful, surpassing sales targets in just ten days. This year’s initiative aims to emphasize the creativity and resilience of Indigenous artisans while encouraging shoppers to support reconciliation through ethical purchasing.
