Montclair Teacher Inducted into New Jersey Hall of Fame

Drury Thorp, a dedicated educator from Montclair, has been honored with induction into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. She teaches at Watchung Elementary School, where she is recognized for her innovative approach to education.

Recognition and Awards

In 2023, Thorp received the prestigious Judy Weston Award for Inspired Teaching. Her student-centered methods foster curiosity, critical thinking, and civic engagement among her pupils.

The New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2025 showcases notable figures from various fields. Among the honorees are:

Montclair’s Legacy in the New Jersey Hall of Fame

Montclair boasts a rich history of representation in the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Previous inductees include sports legend Yogi Berra, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and entrepreneur Bobbi Brown.

“This year’s honorees exemplify heroism in diverse fields, from entertainment to community service,” remarked NJHOF Chairman Jon F. Hanson. He emphasized the hall’s goal to provide role models for future generations.

Induction Ceremony Details

The 17th Annual New Jersey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on November 21 at The Rink @ The Arena at American Dream in East Rutherford. Award-winning actor and filmmaker Danny DeVito will host the event.
