A significant wildfire in north-central Alberta has prompted an urgent evacuation order affecting parts of Woodlands County. This includes the West Ridge subdivision, which is located near the town of Whitecourt.

An Alberta Emergency Alert was released shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday to notify residents of the immediate evacuation requirement. The fire is raging approximately 3.5 kilometers south of Whitecourt and is perilously close to Highway 43, just one kilometer away.
