Incident Details

As the airplane approached the designated runway, the pilot saw what appeared to be fireworks. Out of caution, the commander decided to abort the landing and circle in the air until the situation was clear. EasjJet confirmed that the aircraft itself was not hit by any fireworks, and passenger safety remained intact throughout the event.

Response and Investigation

  • The incident led to the temporary closure of runway 25 for nearly an hour.
  • The gendarmerie of transport aviation (GTA) initiated an investigation into the event.
  • The initial findings suggest that the fireworks were discharged by individuals celebrating a wedding nearby.

Authorities reported that these celebrations occurred in the neighboring localities of Ablon-sur-Seine and Villeneuve-le-Roi, with no intention of targeting the aircraft. Witnesses captured footage showing a sedan and multiple individuals at the site of the fireworks.

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

EasyJet’s Assurance

EasyJet reiterated that their pilots are well-trained for such situations. They follow strict protocols for safety and are capable of executing go-arounds when necessary. Following the incident, the flight eventually landed safely on a different runway.

This occurrence emphasizes the importance of operational safety and the swift response of aviation personnel in unexpected situations.
