Looking Back at 20 Years of Earth Hour
Earth Hour began in 2007 as a symbolic effort to turn off lights in buildings and monuments for one hour. Over the years, it has evolved into a significant global movement uniting millions of individuals, cities, and organizations for climate and nature awareness.
A Milestone of Achievements
As Earth Hour approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026, WWF highlights major achievements in environmental protection. Key accomplishments include:
- The Paris Agreement
- The Ocean Treaty
- Global commitments to reduce single-use plastics
Despite the successes, WWF emphasizes the ongoing need for action. This decade must be a turning point in recognizing nature’s value and prioritizing its recovery.
RTVE’s continuous collaboration with WWF reinforces its dedication to promoting environmental initiatives. As ‘Earth Hour’ grows, its mission remains critical for fostering a sustainable future.
