Joseph Garrett Duggar, a member of the Duggar family known from the show “19 Kids and Counting,” has been arrested in connection with serious allegations involving a minor. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) reported that Duggar, 31, was taken into custody on Wednesday for crimes against a child under the age of 12.
Duggar’s Allegations and Charges
Duggar faces multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious behavior. These charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred during a family vacation in Panama City Beach several years ago. According to the BCSO, Duggar’s actions involved inappropriate conduct with a victim who was nine at the time.
Details from the Investigation
The investigation was initiated after a detective from Tontitown contacted Bay County authorities regarding past sexual abuse claims. The victim, now 14, disclosed her experiences during a forensic interview. She described several instances during which Duggar allegedly asked her to sit on his lap and next to him on a couch while covering them with a blanket.
- Duggar reportedly manipulated the victim’s underwear.
- He is accused of touching her thighs and making her uncomfortable.
- After an apology from Duggar, the inappropriate behavior ceased.
Confrontation and Confession
On March 17, 2026, the victim’s father confronted Duggar about his actions. According to authorities, Duggar admitted to the inappropriate conduct during this confrontation and also to detectives in Tontitown.
Extradition to Bay County
Duggar was arrested out of state and is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County, where he will face the charges against him. The community has been shocked by these developments involving a public figure from a well-known family.
