Maple Leafs Appoint Steve Sullivan as Assistant Coach

Steve Sullivan has been appointed as the new assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This decision comes after Sullivan served as an assistant coach for the Leafs’ AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, since the beginning of the 2024-25 season.

New Role for Steve Sullivan

At 51 years old, Sullivan steps into this role following the dismissal of Marc Savard earlier this week. The Toronto Maple Leafs, under the guidance of Coach Craig Berube, currently find themselves near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

Background of Steve Sullivan

  • Played 1,011 career games in the NHL.
  • Represented multiple teams: Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Phoenix Coyotes.
  • Worked in player development and served as assistant general manager for the Arizona Coyotes.

Sullivan’s extensive playing experience and previous coaching roles position him well in his new responsibilities with the Maple Leafs. Fans are hopeful that his appointment will lead to improvements in the team’s performance and standings as the season progresses.
