Pritchard Returns to Doak, Committed to Walking Again

Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker for the Florida State Seminoles, made a notable appearance at Doak Campbell Stadium on November 15, 2025. He attended a game in a wheelchair as he continues his recovery following a gunshot wound sustained on August 31.

Pritchard’s Journey to Recovery

Pritchard was injured while taking his aunt and a young child back to their home in Havana, Florida. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Pritchard was not at fault, as his vehicle was misidentified in the incident. In connection with the shooting, authorities have arrested four individuals, including a juvenile.

Determination to Walk Again

Ethan’s father, Earl Pritchard, stated that his son is determined to walk again. He plans to return to Florida State in January for the spring semester, with hopes of rejoining the football team in the fall of 2026. “He’ll be back next year. When the season starts back, he’ll be out there full stride,” Earl affirmed.

Support from Teammates and Community

Pritchard’s return to the stadium was met with enthusiasm from fans and teammates alike. Florida State’s strength and conditioning coach, Josh Storms, presented a symbolic sledgehammer to Earl, which represents the team’s resilience. Fans approached Ethan to express their support, sharing smiles, hugs, and taking photos.

After being released from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Ethan began rehab in Jacksonville. He recently returned home to Samford, Florida, but will continue to make trips for therapy. His father shared that Ethan has amazed medical professionals with his recovery progress, attributing it to his determination.
