Italy: NRI Fatally Shot by Two Assailants

Malkeet Singh, a 42-year-old Non-Resident Indian (NRI) based in Italy, was tragically shot and killed by two assailants on his family’s farm. The incident occurred in Dhariwal village, located within the jurisdiction of the Rajasansi police station. Witnesses report that Singh was working in the fields with his father when the attack took place.

Details of the Incident

On the evening of the attack, around 7 PM, Singh was sowing wheat when the assailants approached and opened fire, hitting him with over six bullets. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival due to his critical injuries.

Investigation and Suspects

Authorities are investigating the motive behind the murder. Initial reports suggest that Singh had a quarrel with one of the suspects a few days prior. The Rajasansi police have named Bikram Singh, a resident of the same village, as one of the suspects in this case. He was previously involved in a grenade blast incident at Nirankari Bhawan in 2018 and had been released on bail two years ago.

Meanwhile, Surjit Singh, Malkeet’s father, confirmed that his son had returned from Italy about two months earlier and had expressed concerns regarding his safety due to the prior altercation. As the investigation unfolds, police officials continue to search for the suspects, who are currently at large.
