Second Victim in Brampton Crash Found in Impounded Car by Peel Police

The Brampton community is mourning after a tragic collision that resulted in two fatalities involving a youth driver. On Saturday, around 4:20 a.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street West. The impact of the crash led to ghastly discoveries that unfolded throughout the day.

Details of the Collision

Peel police state that a Blue Audi struck a Black Honda Civic in a t-bone collision. Following the initial impact, both vehicles crashed into a nearby pole before veering off the roadway. Emergency responders transported three individuals from the Audi to local hospitals with minor injuries.

  • A 31-year-old man was found deceased in the Black Honda Civic.
  • The driver and the passenger in the Civic did not know each other; the passenger had utilized a rideshare service after a social event.

Discovery of the Second Victim

After the vehicles were transported to the police impound yard, law enforcement made a harrowing discovery. Around 5:30 p.m., police located the remains of a 20-year-old woman, who had been reported missing by friends and family. The missing person’s location had been tracked to the crash site, prompting officers to check the wreckage.

According to Constable Amanda Steenson, “When the driver was extricated, there was no clear indication of a passenger.” This lack of clarity pushed officers to inspect the damaged Honda Civic further, leading to the disturbing finding of the woman’s body.

Response and Investigation

Police requested aid from Brampton fire services to properly retrieve the woman’s remains from the wreckage. Constable Steenson expressed the department’s understanding of the emotional toll this tragedy has had on the families involved. She emphasized the need for privacy as they navigate this difficult time.

Authorities reported two separate missing person claims, one being made by the victim’s family and another by a friend, submitted approximately an hour apart around 4 p.m. Constable Tyler Bell-Morena underscored the victim’s commendable efforts to ensure her safety that night.

The young driver of the Blue Audi, a 17-year-old, faces serious charges, including dangerous driving causing death and failure to comply with police demands. The case has now been turned over to the Major Collision Bureau for further investigation.
