Powerful Winds Leave Thousands Without Power in Washoe County

Powerful winds have caused significant disruptions in Washoe County, Nevada, leaving thousands without electricity. As of 7:45 a.m. on November 5, a total of 28,258 NV Energy customers were reported to be without power.
Wind Warnings and Conditions
A high wind warning is currently in effect for the Greater Reno-Carson-Minden areas, as well as Mono County, California. This warning is active from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wind Speeds and Effects
Residents can expect southwest winds ranging from 35 to 45 mph. Gusts may reach up to 65 mph in various areas. Notably, regions along US-395 may experience even stronger gusts, potentially hitting 70 to 80 mph. Ridgetop winds could escalate to an alarming 110 mph.
