Alabama Football Legacy Arrested in Tuscaloosa During Bye Week

University of Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. has been arrested during the team’s bye week. Arrested in Tuscaloosa, the sophomore athlete was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail around noon on Saturday.

Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.’s Charges and Arrest Details

Kirkpatrick Jr. faces several charges, including:

  • Three counts of reckless endangerment
  • One count of attempting to elude
  • Speeding

He was released on a $1,500 bond shortly after his booking. The circumstances of his arrest remain unclear as of Sunday.

The University of Alabama Police Department is leading the investigation. Efforts to get comments from both police and university officials have not been successful. A spokesperson for UA athletics confirmed they are aware of the incident involving Kirkpatrick Jr. and are currently gathering more details.

Family Legacy and Academic Performance

Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. is the son of Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., who played under Coach Nick Saban at Alabama from 2009 to 2011. Kirkpatrick Sr. later enjoyed a successful NFL career with teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers.

As Saban’s first legacy commit, Kirkpatrick Jr. attended Gadsden City High School. In his recruitment, he also considered Missouri, Arkansas, and Auburn before committing to Alabama. So far this season, he has participated in all eight games, mainly as a reserve defensive back and on special teams.
