Cougar Football Alters Game Theme

The #22 Houston Football team is set to honor the memory of Kurt Hester, the late Director of Strength and Performance, during an upcoming game against West Virginia. This match will feature a special Black Out theme in tribute to Hester, who passed away after a long battle with Stage IV melanoma.
Houston’s Black Out Game Details
The Black Out game will take place on November 1 at 11 a.m., broadcasted on FS1. Originally scheduled for November 22 against TCU, the game now serves as a vital tribute to Hester. The Cougars will wear black uniforms as a sign of respect and will feature #Unbreakable on their helmet bumpers, reflecting Hester’s inspirational slogan during his last months.
Tributes and Activities
- The field at John M. O’Quinn will display #Unbreakable as part of the game day design.
- The Spirit of Houston will perform a special tribute during halftime, spelling out “Unbreakable” on the field.
- Black merchandise will be available at the Team Shop and licensed retailers throughout the city.
- Further plans to honor Coach Hester are being developed.
In addition to honoring Hester, the game will also commemorate the 2015 Peach Bowl and American Athletic Conference Championship team, celebrating a decade since they lifted the Peach Bowl trophy. Fans can take part by purchasing special $20.15 tickets in recognition of this milestone.
