Disney+ Launches HDR10+ Support

Disney+ has officially launched support for HDR10+ content, enhancing its streaming capabilities. At the outset, this new feature will be available with a select library.
Limited Initial Offering of HDR10+ Content
Initially, Disney+ will offer around 1,000 shows from Hulu that support the HDR10+ standard. Additional programming from Disney is expected to adopt this technology in the future, although no specific timeline has been announced.
Compatibility and Requirements
The HDR10+ content on Disney+ will primarily be accessible on the following:
- Samsung Crystal UHD TVs and other models released since 2018
- Select Samsung Smart Monitors
This new feature promises to enhance picture quality significantly. HDR10+ technology builds upon the existing HDR10 format, delivering superior contrast, brightness, and a broader color spectrum. It offers an alternative to Dolby Vision, providing viewers with scene-by-scene adjustments for visual fidelity.
Samsung’s Role in HDR10+
Samsung, a key player in promoting HDR10+, announced this partnership with Disney+. The collaboration emphasizes the importance of high dynamic range video technology in home entertainment.
Market Context
Other platforms, including Netflix, announced HDR10+ support earlier this year in March. Several services have long supported this technology, highlighting the growing demand for superior streaming experiences.
As Disney+ expands its HDR10+ content library, viewers can anticipate a richer and more vibrant viewing experience, provided they have the compatible devices to enjoy it.
