Thieves Impersonating Workers Steal $3.2 Million in NYC Jewelry Heist

Authorities in New York City are investigating a significant jewelry heist that took place on October 16, 2023. Three suspects stole an estimated $3.2 million in jewelry and a safe from a residence in the Jamaica Hills area of Queens.

Details of the Jewelry Heist

The burglary occurred around 2:20 p.m. ET when the thieves, two of whom were disguised as construction workers, gained entry by forcibly opening a rear door. Once inside, they swiftly removed the safe along with valuable jewelry.

Suspect Descriptions

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), descriptions of the suspects are as follows:

  • Suspect 1: Dressed in a black sweatshirt, black pants, and black sneakers, wearing a neon construction vest, white construction hat, and eye protection.
  • Suspect 2: Similar attire as the first but with gray sneakers and a black face covering, also carrying a black backpack.
  • Suspect 3: Served as the getaway driver, wearing a white hoodie sweater, black pants, gray sneakers, and black gloves.

Escape Details

After the theft, the suspects were last captured on surveillance cameras fleeing the scene in a blue Hyundai Elantra, heading east on 84th Drive. Fortunately, no one was injured during this bold daytime heist.

Law enforcement is urging anyone with information about this case to come forward in assistance of the ongoing investigation.
