Kano Governor Launches Women’s Economic Empowerment Program

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled a significant women’s economic empowerment initiative. This program aims to foster economic inclusion and self-reliance among families within the state.

The new initiative provides monthly financial support of N50,000 to 5,200 women from all 44 local government areas in Kano State. The official launch took place at the Government House in Kano.
Objectives of the Program
Governor Yusuf emphasized the initiative’s objectives, stating it is designed to:
- Reduce poverty levels
- Strengthen small-scale enterprises
- Enhance financial independence among vulnerable women
According to the Governor, this support will enable women to expand their small businesses, stabilize their households, and contribute positively to the state’s economy.
Government Commitment
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering women, stating, “Women remain key drivers of social and economic development.” He pledged ongoing efforts to create policies aimed at promoting inclusion and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level.
Community Support and Feedback
The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano State, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, praised the initiative. She deemed it a landmark achievement in grassroots empowerment. Hajiya Yusha’u encouraged the women beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely for transformative impacts on their lives.
Program Launch Event
The event included a symbolic presentation of funds to selected women from various local government areas. This act marked the start of the monthly cash disbursement across Kano State.
