Enrique remarked, “This beginning of the season has been challenging and very different. We encountered unusual difficulties early on but demonstrated resilience.”
Dembélé’s Return and the Ballon d’Or Remarks
Ousmane Dembélé is returning to the squad for the first time since his recent achievement. Enrique commented on the hype surrounding the Ballon d’Or, stating, “It’s Ousmane Dembélé, not just a trophy. We’re pleased to have him back along with Marquinhos and Désiré Doué.”
Enrique emphasized the importance of having skilled players available, saying it provides significant options for the team’s strategy.
Defensive Strength and Goalkeeper Support
Enrique praised defender Willian Pacho, highlighting his importance in the squad. “We recruited Pacho because we recognized his talent. He’s young and has much potential to improve, but he’s already a strong defensive presence.”
Addressing criticism towards goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, Enrique defended him by recalling Gianluigi Donnarumma’s initial struggles at PSG. “I’m very happy with Lucas. He was our best option. His personality and daily performance are commendable.”
Challenge Ahead Against Bayer Leverkusen
Facing Bayer Leverkusen, managed by Kasper Hjulmand, will be no simple task. Enrique noted that the team has undergone significant changes, including the acquisition of twenty new players.
“Leverkusen is difficult to analyze. They possess quality players capable of scoring and can defend well or apply pressing,” he stated.
Looking forward, Enrique asserted, “Our objective remains to earn as many points as possible. Tomorrow’s match will be a valuable test for both teams.”
