Brandon Graham Discusses Eagles Return and Expected Play Readiness

Brandon Graham, the veteran defensive end of the Philadelphia Eagles, recently discussed his potential return to the NFL. After initially contemplating retirement following the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, Graham found himself torn between leaving the game and pursuing another season. He made it clear that he had no desire to play for any team other than Philadelphia.

Reflections on Retirement

In his own words, Graham expressed the difficulty of considering retirement. “I really didn’t want to retire in the beginning. It was kind of tough,” he mentioned. Despite this struggle, he felt confident about the Eagles’ current trajectory. He stated, “Philly right now … they got everything they need.” Graham believes that going out on top would be ideal.

Continuing to Train

Months after the Super Bowl win, Graham maintained his training regimen. He shared that he was enjoying life outside of football, including playing golf. However, as the start of the NFL season approached, he felt the pull of the game once again.

Support from Family

Graham highlighted the importance of his wife’s support throughout this process. “My wife wanted me to do whatever I wanted. She’s been so supportive,” he stated. Together, they prioritized his mental health, discussing the possibility of his return to the field. He emphasized the need to make a thoughtful decision rather than rushing back into a familiar role.

Opportunity Knocks

Initially hesitant, Graham’s stance changed when the Eagles’ general manager, Howie Roseman, contacted him about returning. Roseman, who had previously advised Graham on retirement, was now interested in signing him back. Graham was inspired to pray for guidance, seeking clarity on whether to seize the opportunity.

While a teammate, Za’Darius Smith, unexpectedly retired, Graham began to reconsider his own career. “I feel like I have some more juice left,” he noted, signaling his readiness to contribute to the team once again.

No Expectations, Just Passion

With his return now a possibility, Graham expressed his eagerness to bring energy to the game. He stated, “I’m just thankful… I’ma come just bring myself, and bring the energy.” He emphasized that he is locked in and focused on improving with each passing day.

Graham’s journey highlights his commitment to the Eagles and his reluctance to leave the sport behind. With a renewed sense of purpose and a supportive family, he is ready to take on whatever comes next in his NFL career.
