Ford Recalls 625,000 Vehicles: Check the Affected Models

Ford Motor Company has announced two significant recalls that affect over 625,000 vehicles due to safety concerns related to seatbelts and rearview camera systems. These recalls pose a potential risk of crash or injury for drivers and passengers.

Details of the Recalls

Seatbelt Recall

The first recall was posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on September 12. It highlights that water and road salt might lead to corrosion in the front seat belt anchor pretensioner cables. This issue affects 332,778 units of the 2015-2017 Ford Mustang. The recall number associated with this alert is 25S92.

Ford reported this issue to the NHTSA, but formal acknowledgment came in a letter dated October 16. Car owners impacted by this recall will receive notifications by mail within the month. Dealers will replace the front seat belt anchor pretensioner assemblies at no additional charge. They will also remove parts of the carpet and underlayment that come into contact with the cables.

Rearview Camera Recall

The second recall, announced on October 10, involves potential issues with rearview cameras not displaying images correctly in certain lighting conditions. This recall affects 291,901 pickup trucks manufactured between 2020 and 2022, including models such as:

  • Ford F-250 Super Duty
  • Ford F-350 Super Duty
  • Ford F-450 Super Duty

The associated recall number is 25SA8. Similar to the seatbelt recall, the NHTSA formally recognized this issue in a letter issued on October 16. Notifications to affected vehicle owners will be sent out on October 20. Dealers are required to update the image processing module software free of charge.
