Viel, 28, signed a two-year contract with the Bruins last July. He showcased his skills during training camp, proving himself as a valuable depth player for Boston’s bottom six. Last season, he played five games in the NHL and spent the majority of his time with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, where he recorded 37 points, including 13 goals and 24 assists in 68 games.
