James Gunn Expands Peacemaker’s Role in DCU, Rules Out Season 3

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, has announced that there will be no Season 3 for the series Peacemaker. Instead, the character will play a larger role within the expanded DC Universe (DCU). During a press roundtable, Gunn confirmed that the conclusion of Season 2 is intended to set the stage for future projects.

John Cena portrays Peacemaker, who will be central to upcoming stories in the DCU. Gunn emphasized the significance of Peacemaker as an important character. He stated, “It’s about really propping up and maintaining and repositioning the big diamond properties that DC has,” while also creating valuable narratives around smaller characters like Peacemaker.
What’s Next for Peacemaker?
While Peacemaker won’t have a standalone third season, Gunn hinted at potential appearances in future films. The character might show up in the 2026 film Supergirl or the 2027 film Man of Tomorrow, although specific details remain undisclosed.
