A dramatic rescue unfolded on Saturday morning on the S1 route heading towards Sosnowiec. A mother was traveling with her seven-month-old infant from Pszczyna to the hospital for urgent medical assistance. During the journey, the infant’s condition rapidly deteriorated.
Swift Response to a Life-Threatening Situation
Realizing the urgency, the mother contacted emergency services at 112. The dispatcher, aware that the car was in Tychy, made a critical decision. She directed the mother to the area near the Municipal Command of the State Fire Service.
Simultaneously, firefighters and medical personnel were alerted to the situation. The vehicle met the medical rescue team at an intersection adjacent to the fire station.
Quick Actions Save a Life
Firefighters were the first to reach the scene and quickly extricated the infant from the car. After a rapid assessment of the child’s condition, the responders initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Remarkably, their efforts paid off—the baby’s heartbeat was restored. Due to the seriousness of the situation, additional support was provided by an ambulance and a helicopter from the Air Rescue Service.
Successful Outcome and Transfer to Hospital
The combined efforts of all emergency services achieved a crucial milestone as the infant’s heart began to beat again. Once stabilized, the child was transported to the Upper Silesian Children’s Health Center in Katowice.
