Runaway Car Plunges into Water, Killing Two Occupants

Authorities from the Sûreté du Québec engaged in a pursuit of a vehicle linked to a suspect in violation of conditions. The chase ended tragically when the driver lost control, causing the car to plunge into the Delisle River.

Two passengers were rescued from the water but sustained severe injuries. Unfortunately, both were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigation Initiated by the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes

In light of the fatalities, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) promptly initiated an investigation. Such inquiries are standard procedure whenever there are serious injuries or deaths during police interventions.

The BEI has assigned seven investigators to look into the circumstances of the incident. Their objective is to establish a clear picture of the events leading up to the vehicle’s plunge into the water.
