Manitobans Invited to Choose New Specialty License Plate Design

The Manitoba government is inviting residents to participate in a vote for a new specialty license plate design, celebrating the province’s parks. Manitobans can choose from five distinct designs, each capturing the beauty of the region’s natural landscapes.

Specialty License Plate Options for Manitobans

Each design reflects various aspects of Manitoba’s parks. The options include:

  • A serene campsite scene at night
  • A depiction of canoeing on a tranquil waterway
  • A stylized map of the provincial parks
  • A loon gracefully floating on a lake
  • A solid black plate representing a park at night

These plates aim to foster a connection between residents and nature. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will contribute to an endowment fund dedicated to park enhancements.

Background and Purpose

The initiative arose after a proposal from the Nature Conservancy of Canada, emphasizing the importance of preserving nature and promoting outdoor activities. This specialty plate serves as an emblem for Manitobans to express their appreciation for the environment.

Current License Plate Offerings

Manitoba Public Insurance, the government-owned entity responsible for vehicle registration, currently offers 19 different specialty license plates. Over 208,000 residents in Manitoba own these plates, which serve various causes and communities.

Availability

The new provincial park license plates are set to be available for purchase next year, further diversifying the existing selection and enhancing public engagement with the province’s natural beauty.
