Gills Secure Brighton’s Zane Albarus Transfer

Gareth Ainsworth has successfully secured the transfer of Zane Albarus from Brighton & Hove Albion. This signing marks Ainsworth’s second addition of the summer. Albarus, a 20-year-old central midfielder, has signed an initial two-year contract.

Zane Albarus Transfer Details

Zane Albarus will join Gillingham on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Brighton. He made a limited number of appearances for Brighton’s U21 team, featuring four times in the EFL Trophy over the last two seasons.

Albarus began his journey with the Seagulls after signing from MK Dons as an U16 player. This transfer will see him make his first appearance in the English Football League (EFL).

Statement from Zane Albarus

On confirming his move to Gillingham, Albarus expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity. “I am so excited to join and be on board for next season,” he said. “This will be my first opportunity in a senior team to play EFL Football. I can’t wait. I put 110% into everything I do. I am raring to go.”

Albarus will officially join Gillingham on July 1, pending EFL ratification. His arrival follows that of James Brophy, who also signed a two-year contract with the club last week.
