Major Road Closures in Greater Montreal Sunday for Tour de l’Île, Laval Firefighter Run

Drivers in Greater Montreal are being urged to prepare for extensive road closures this Sunday due to the Tour de l’Île cycling event, as well as the Laval Firefighters’ Run and ongoing construction projects. These closures will impact traffic across various boroughs and routes.

Major Road Closures Due to Tour de l’Île

The Tour de l’Île is scheduled for Sunday, starting at 8:45 a.m. and concluding at 2:30 p.m. This annual cycling celebration will result in significant traffic disruptions, particularly in the following areas:

  • Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension:
    • Saint-Laurent Boulevard: Closed between Bernard and Legendre streets.
    • Jarry Street West: Closed to De l’Épée Avenue.
    • Park Avenue: Inaccessible between Parc métro station and Thérèse-Lavoie Avenue.
  • Ahuntsic-Cartierville:
    • Saint-Hubert Street: Closed from Legendre to Gouin Boulevard.
    • Gouin Boulevard: Eastbound lanes reserved for cyclists.
    • De Lorimier Avenue: Closed between Prieur Street and Frédéric-Back Park.
  • Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie:
    • Beaubien Street: Closed between 21st Avenue and Des Érables Avenue.
  • Plateau-Mont-Royal:
    • Residential streets such as Henri-Julien and Drolet will experience disruptions, while commercial arteries remain accessible.
  • Downtown:
    • Closures on Saint-Denis, Sainte-Catherine, Saint-Laurent, and Saint-Antoine streets near Victoria Square and McGill Street.
  • Sud-Ouest:
    • Cyclists will travel along Wellington, Saint-Patrick, and Notre-Dame streets, resulting in additional closures.
  • Westmount and Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce:
    • Saint-Catherine, Sherbrooke, Earnscliffe, McLynn, and Barclay avenues will be affected.

Impact of Laval Firefighters’ Run and Construction

Simultaneously, the Laval Firefighters’ Run will lead to road closures from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This run will particularly impact highway ramps and exits near Highways 15 and 19, including:

  • Closures at Lévesque Boulevard.
  • Access ramps to Notre-Dame and Concorde boulevards.

Construction projects will also contribute to traffic delays across the region:

  • Honoré-Mercier Bridge: Only one lane open in each direction from Friday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.
  • Highway 13 and Highway 520 interchange: Subject to lane reductions and ramp closures.
  • Vaudreuil-Dorion: Closures on Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and Highway 20/30 interchange throughout the weekend.
