Surrey Police Fatally Shoot Suspect in Holland Park Stabbing
A tragic incident unfolded in Surrey, British Columbia, on Friday when police fatally shot a suspect linked to a stabbing. The violence occurred near Holland Park, resulting in one death and another person hospitalized.
Incident Details from Holland Park Stabbing
On Friday afternoon, shortly after 1 p.m. PT, Surrey Police Service (SPS) received reports of a stabbing at a building located on the 13300-block of Old Yale Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered two stabbing victims. One individual was declared dead at the scene, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Confrontation with Police
The suspect was located a short distance from the scene. Following a confrontation with police, the suspect was shot by officers using service weapons. The individual later succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Investigation and Oversight
Multiple police units, including Metro Vancouver Transit Police, responded to the scene at Holland Park. The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C., which oversees police conduct, is now examining the officers’ actions during the incident. The IIO noted that one victim was found at the building, while the other was discovered at Holland Park, close to the King George SkyTrain station.
Further Investigation by IHIT
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken on the case to investigate the fatal stabbing. Meanwhile, the IIO will assess whether the police officers involved in the shooting committed any criminal offenses. Recommendations for charges may follow once their investigation concludes.
