On the evening of May 27, 2026, a significant blaze erupted at a construction site in Penticton, British Columbia. The fire was so intense that flames could be seen from as far away as Okanagan Falls.
Incident Details
The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. on Green Avenue West, where a new long-term care facility has been under construction since November 2025. Emergency crews, including the Penticton Fire Department and FortisBC, quickly arrived at the scene.
Road Closures
As a precaution, the Channel Parkway was closed in both directions. Additional road closures included:
- Brandon Avenue to Green Avenue
- Paris Street near Penticton Walmart
Response and Investigation
Emergency responders, including the RCMP, are actively managing the situation. At this time, there are no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
