Brewers’ Misiorowski Breaks Record with 57 Triple-Digit Pitches in Game

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski recently set a remarkable record by throwing 57 pitches at 100 mph or faster in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals. This achievement is notable as it marks the highest number of triple-digit pitches recorded by a player in a single game since pitch tracking commenced in 2008. Misiorowski dominated the mound, securing 12 strikeouts in a 5-1 victory on Monday.

Record-Breaking Performance

The previous record for triple-digit pitches in one game stood at 47, set by Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds in September 2022. Misiorowski surpassed this by reaching at least 100 mph with a staggering 57 pitches.

  • Fastest pitches: Misiorowski hit 101 mph on 40 of his 96 total pitches.
  • Pitches exceeding 103 mph: He achieved this speed on nine occasions, with a peak velocity of 103.4 mph, recorded three times.

Impressive Statistics

In addition to his record-breaking speed, Misiorowski allowed only two hits and one walk throughout his seven innings. His earned run average (ERA) improved to 1.83 after the game. The 24-year-old has been on a remarkable streak, allowing just one run and 11 hits over five starts in the month, while striking out 49 batters.

Consecutive Scoreless Innings

Misiorowski’s performance included a consecutive scoreless innings streak of 29.1, which is the third-longest in Brewers history. He trailed only Teddy Higuera’s 32 innings in 1987 and Freddy Peralta’s 30 innings from last year.

Improved Control and Condition

After a promising rookie season, Misiorowski has made significant strides in his control this year. He recorded 87 strikeouts alongside 31 walks last season, but currently has 100 strikeouts and 19 walks over 64 innings.

Coaching Praise

Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised Misiorowski’s performance, stating it was one of the best he’s seen in a long time. First baseman Andrew Vaughn emphasized the effectiveness of his fastball, calling it “probably the best in the game.” Misiorowski has shown improvement by focusing on conditioning and mechanics during the off-season.

Looking Ahead

With maintained intensity and consistency, Misiorowski is shaping up to be a dominant force in the league. His ability to exceed 100 mph on a regular basis sets a high standard, not only for himself but for aspiring pitchers across Major League Baseball.
