Iran’s IRGC Vows Retaliation After US Strikes on Launch Sites

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene his security cabinet for the first time amid escalating tensions regarding a potential US-Iran agreement. This development has drawn considerable criticism from various Israeli officials, who view it as a detrimental initiative.
Concerns Over the US-Iran Deal
Sources indicate that Netanyahu feels he has limited influence on Washington’s negotiations with Iran. The emerging accord, as interpreted by Israeli officials, does not adequately address key concerns about Iran’s nuclear program and its enriched uranium stockpile.
Iran’s Actions and Regional Tensions
Iran is reportedly advocating for a reinforced ceasefire in Lebanon. However, the situation remains tense as Hezbollah increases its drone and UAV attacks on Israeli forces and northern border communities.
Political Pressures on Netanyahu
- Netanyahu faces mounting pressure from political rivals and internal coalition members.
- Gadi Eisenkot, a former IDF chief of staff and political contender, has criticized the current ceasefire terms as dangerously unfavorable for Israeli security.
- Far-right allies, including ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, are advocating for a more forceful military stance.
Calls for Military Response
Both Ben Gvir and Smotrich have emphasized the need for an aggressive military response. Ben Gvir urged Netanyahu to confront US President Donald Trump, articulating that Israel cannot tolerate the current diplomatic approach. Meanwhile, Smotrich stated that strategic threats require more than just defensive measures, suggesting that significant military action is essential.
“For every explosive drone, 10 buildings in Beirut must fall,” he asserted, calling for a fundamental shift in military tactics.
Netanyahu’s Response
Amid the growing criticism, Netanyahu released a video statement announcing plans to increase IDF strikes in Lebanon, particularly in response to intensified drone fire from Hezbollah. “We must increase the blows, increase the intensity. We will strike them decisively,” he declared, underscoring his commitment to a more aggressive military strategy.
