Arsonists Torch Montreal Police SUV in Downtown Area

A Montreal Police Service (SPVM) vehicle was intentionally set on fire in the downtown area on Saturday night. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. while the SUV was parked on Saint-Urbain Street, near De Maisonneuve Boulevard West, close to police headquarters in the Ville-Marie borough.

Details of the Arson Attack

According to SPVM spokesperson Johany Charland, incendiary materials were discovered at the scene, indicating that arson was involved. Eyewitnesses reported seeing one or more individuals igniting the vehicle before fleeing the location.

Response to the Incident

The Montreal Fire Department quickly responded and managed to control the fire. However, the damage to the SUV was significant. Following the incident, the vehicle was towed for further inspection and analysis.

Investigation Status

The investigation into the arson attack has been assigned to the SPVM’s Arson Section. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.
