Slavia Prague Fined, Forfeits Match Following Derby Abandonment

Slavia Prague has faced severe penalties following a chaotic derby match against Sparta Prague. The match, which took place on the weekend, was abruptly abandoned after a pitch invasion by hundreds of Slavia fans.

Penalties Imposed on Slavia Prague

In the aftermath, Slavia Prague was fined 10 million Czech crowns, approximately £357,000. The club must also play four home matches without fans in attendance.

Club chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik expressed the seriousness of the situation. He announced plans to impose lifetime bans on any fans involved in the invasion, describing the event as “absolutely unacceptable.” Slavia Prague acknowledged the disciplinary committee’s decisions, expressing respect for the ruling.

Sparta Prague’s Response

  • Sparta Prague received a fine of 600,000 Czech crowns (£21,400) due to their fans igniting flares and causing damage at the stadium.

Following these sanctions, Slavia’s lead at the top of the league table has now diminished to five points ahead of second-placed Sparta.
