Detroit Tigers’ Partners Join Wish Upon a Teen for Comerica Park Fashion Bash

Recently, the Detroit Tigers, alongside their significant others, collaborated with local nonprofits Wish Upon a Teen and Project Prom to host a Fashion Bash at Comerica Park. The event aimed to support 17 local teenage girls who, due to medical challenges, missed out on attending their school prom. The Fashion Bash provided these girls with the chance to try on prom dresses and receive styling advice in preparation for the upcoming “Evening of Dreams Prom” on May 30.
Celebrating Young Lives
This initiative was designed to make the participating teens feel celebrated and included in the traditional prom experience. Tigers players’ significant others actively participated, including:
- Jessica Skubal (wife of Tarik Skubal)
- Makenna Torkelson (wife of Spencer Torkelson)
- Cana Hanifee (wife of Brennan Hanifee)
- Storme Holton (wife of Tyler Holton)
- Alexandra Jones (wife of Jahmai Jones)
- Kaitlyn Keith (wife of Colt Keith)
- Hailey Vest (wife of Will Vest)
- Erin Hinch (wife of AJ Hinch)
With the help of these partners, the significant others donated dresses and various accessories. They served as personal shoppers, assisting the girls in finding their ideal prom outfits.
Making Memories
Nancy Sovran, Executive Director of Wish Upon a Teen, expressed the significance of the event. “Watching each teen paired with a significant other to help them choose the perfect dress was incredibly special,” she noted. “It represented connection and confidence, creating cherished memories for the girls.”
Families of the teens, Wish Upon a Teen leadership, and 12 volunteers from Project Prom were also present. This student-led initiative, founded by Bloomfield Hills High School representatives, focuses on sourcing dress donations and assisting at events like the Fashion Bash and the Evening of Dreams Prom.
Event Highlights
The Fashion Bash featured a runway for the guests to display their selected prom looks. Participating families enjoyed complimentary food and beverages throughout the day and received tickets to watch the Tigers game following the event.
Sovran highlighted the impact of the Fashion Bash: “Thank you truly doesn’t feel like enough for the incredible event the Tigers hosted for our teens. The kindness and generosity created an extraordinary experience we will never forget.”
Overall, the event provided a magical opportunity for the teens involved, leaving them feeling seen, celebrated, and cared for.
