Premier Bolojan Meets Moldovan Parliament President to Discuss EU Accession

On Tuesday, Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met with Igor Grosu, President of the Parliament of Moldova. The meeting took place at the Victoria Palace. Grosu is visiting Romania to attend the 10th Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum.
Discussion on Moldova’s EU Accession
During their discussions, Bolojan and Grosu focused on Moldova’s preparation for European Union accession. Bolojan highlighted the strong collaboration between Romania and Moldova, which is rooted in their shared language, history, and culture.
Support for Moldova’s EU Path
The Romanian government reiterated its firm support for Moldova’s EU accession process. This support manifests politically and through direct assistance to the Chisinau government. According to Bolojan, EU membership is vital for the progress and improved quality of life for Moldovan citizens.
Urgency of Official Negotiations
Romania advocates for the immediate opening of official accession negotiations for Moldova. Grosu expressed gratitude for Romania’s consistent support and emphasized the importance of starting these negotiations as soon as possible.
Joint Projects and Cooperation
In addition to discussing EU integration, the two officials reviewed ongoing joint projects. Key areas of focus included:
- Energy interconnectivity
- Transportation improvements
- Streamlining border traffic for citizens and goods
