Salvador Bus Drivers to Meet with Employers Amid Possible Strike

In Salvador, bus drivers are preparing for crucial negotiations with their employers. The Bahia Bus Drivers Union has scheduled a meeting with the Association of Transport Companies of Salvador (Integra). This meeting is set for Friday, the 15th, and will be mediated by the Regional Labor Superintendence.
This discussion follows a request from the bus drivers to the Municipal Mobility Secretariat (Semob) on Monday, the 11th. The workers met with Semob’s head, Pablo Souza, and the mayor of Salvador, Bruno Reis, to address ongoing disputes affecting public transportation in the city.
Negotiation Goals and Demands
The bus drivers aim to resolve a standoff that has already led to delays and threatened a city-wide strike. Among their demands are:
- Salary increases
- 5% rise in meal ticket allowances above inflation
- Implementation of a six-hour workday
- Elimination of excessive working hours, particularly on weekends
- Immediate adjustments to work schedules
- Improved working conditions for transport professionals
The drivers believe these changes are essential for creating a balanced work environment and enhancing overall job satisfaction.
Impact on Public Transport
As negotiations unfold, the public is advised to stay informed about potential impacts on transport services in Salvador. The developments may influence daily commutes and the operations of local transport.
