Land Now Open for Agricultural Development Opportunities

The Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is enhancing opportunities for local farmers by making a substantial amount of farmland accessible for agricultural development. Approximately 3,000 acres are now available across 14 parcels in different regions of the province.
Details of the Agricultural Development Opportunity
This initiative aims to support farmers by encouraging long-term agricultural use of the designated land. The parcels are located in three main areas: western, central, and eastern Newfoundland.
Proposal Submission Requirements
Interested applicants must follow specific guidelines while submitting their proposals. Each proposal should include:
- A five-year farm development plan.
- A commercial farm business plan.
- A pasture management plan, if applicable.
Additionally, the proposals must detail the intended use of the land, taking into account its suitability for agricultural purposes.
Long-term Crown Land Agricultural Titles
Successful proposal applicants will have the opportunity to obtain a long-term Crown land agricultural title. This step is crucial for fostering sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
Important Dates and Information
Proposals will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. NDT on May 29, 2026. To assist applicants, an overview of submission guidelines and soil suitability maps for the available lands can be found at El-Balad’s Requests for Proposals – Land for Agriculture section.
